Genesis 18:20-33

Off-Roading Observation:
1) Abraham cared so much about saving Lot and his family from God’s justifiable judgment of sinful Sodom that he boldly bargains with God to see how low He’d go to save them.
He models the heart and actions we should have toward those who don’t see how deadly their sin is and don’t believe what they’re ultimate destiny will be.

Genesis 18:32 – “Finally, Abraham said, “Lord, please don’t be angry with me if I speak one more time. Suppose only ten are found there?” And the Lord replied, “Then I will not destroy it for the sake of the ten.”

Off-Roading Observation:
2) We know the truth now about the future and we act like Abraham by:

1. Praying fervently and faithfully for those who are deceived and doomed.

John 3:36 – “And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”  Matthew 10:28; Luke 17:26-30; 1 Timothy 2:1-4

2. Caring compassionately and consistently for lost people’s real needs.

Matthew 5:14-16 – “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”  Titus 2:11-14

3. Sharing boldly and gracefully with them how to be saved from God’s coming justifiable judgment.

Ezekiel 3:16-19; Colossians 4:5-6 – “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” Ephesians 6:18-20

Genesis 19:1-29

Off-Roading Observation:
3) God mercifully spared Lot and his family in response to Abraham’s plea. but the powerful seduction of Sodom sinful people almost prevented them from escaping.
Freeing people from the grip of sin is a struggle against their flesh and demonic forces but we can win if we pray, care and share Christ.

Genesis 19:29 – “But God had listened to Abraham’s request and kept Lot safe, removing him from the disaster that engulfed the cities on the plain.”
