Unlikely Heroes: Gideon-Unlikely Potential

Judges 6:1-10

  • Worshiping the idols of culture leaves me exposed to the cruelty of the culture.
  1. Unlikely heroes have that God sees and calls forth. Judges 6:11-12; Psalm 139:13-16; Judges 6:13-18;
  2. Unlikely heroes are not the strongest or the best-equipped; they are and willing. Judges 6:19-24
  3. Unlikely heroes worship God by what we have. Judges 6:25-32
    • Potential can only be fully developed when it is fully given.
  4. Unlikely Heroes their idols and become fiercely loyal to God and His mission.

3Main idols we struggle with:

  • Control – remove by trusting that God is great and in control
  • Significance – removed by trusting Christ for my significance
  • Comfort – removed by trusting that God is good and enough for me

  4. What idols have you removed, or are you removing, in you life? How has this made way for your potential to be maximized?
