Personal P.E.A.C.E.

"Jesus said, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'" Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

Jesus called out to them, "Come, be my disciples, and I will show your how to fish for people!" Mark 1:17 (NLT)

  • First God has called you to care for and respond personally to people in need in your neighborhoods, workplaces and schools. This is a personal response, using your own resources and time.
  • Personal P.E.A.C.E. is an easy way for every individual to get started in the P.E.A.C.E. Plan. Local and Global P.E.A.C.E. are done through your small group.
  • The following Personal P.E.A.C.E. pages offer some good examples to help you get started. Be creative and follow God’s lead.
  • Take a moment to read about each letter of P.E.A.C.E. Prayerfully consider one "Next Step" you can take for each letter. Remember that Personal P.E.A.C.E. is a life style not a one time deal.

Plant Churches. What I can do...

  • Get to know a neighbor or a colleague at work, or someone at school. Begin to develop caring relationships with those around me.
  • List and pray for three people who do not know Jesus in a personal way.
  • Seek opportunities to share the Good News through my testimony. Learn how to share the 4 Spiritual Laws and carry a copy with you.
  • Invite and bring someone to a weekend service. Easter, Christmas or special services are great times to invite your non-believing friends.
  • Believe that God can use me to host a new group! Begin praying for three of four people who do not have a relationship with Jesus. Invite them to the new small group that you would lead. This is a "church plant!"

Jesus did it...
"Jesus called out to them, 'Come be my disciples, and I will show you how to fish for people!'" Mark 1:17 (NLT)

Equip Servant Leaders. What I can do...

  • Pray for leaders in my community, workplace or school and seek to help them know Jesus and lead people like Jesus did.
  • Help a young believer take his or her next steps in their spiritual journey with God.
  • Invite someone who knows Christ, but is not in a small group, to join my small group.
  • Challenge someone in my small group or myself to co-lead a small group.
  • Encourage everyone in my small group to pair up as spiritual partners to grow in their spiritual walk.
  • Encourage everyone in my small group to attend the Life Tracks Membership and Shape Classes.

Jesus did it...
"they were utterly amazed at his teaching, because this message was spoken with authority." Luke 4:32 (ISV)

Assist the Poor. What I can do...

  • Pray for people in my sphere of influence who are in financial need.
  • Ask God to make me aware of people living in poverty around me. Commit some time, abilities, and resources to assist those in need.
  • Seek to help the poor in practical ways (e.g. job searches, budget planning or helping reduce debt).
  • Find ways to help financially needy people develop new job skills through classes or training.
  • Volunteer to provide food for a homeless family.

Jesus did it...
"You know how full of love and kindness our Lord Jesus Christ was. Through he was very rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich."Corinthians 8:9 (NLT)

Care for the Sick. What i can do...

  • Express practical kindness for someone I know who is sick: take them a meal; offer to drive them to the doctor; do errands or shopping for them; watch their children; send an encouraging not or call.
  • Pray with those I know who are physically suffering. Pray for each person each day for two weeks.
  • Communicate genuine concern by following up with each person.
  • Find out how I can help visit the sick who are hospitalized.
  • Visit a nursing home or elderly shut-ins and care for the neglected and isolated.
  • If I know someone or a family affected by HIV/AIDS, seek to show God's love for them and offer to help provide care.

Jesus did it...
"Jesus ...healed people who had every kind of sickness and disease. News about him spread far beyond the borders of Galilee so that the sick were soon coming to be healed from as far away as Syria. And whatever their illness and pain, or if they were possed by demons, or were epileptics, or were paralyzed - he healed them all." Matthew 4:23-24 (NLT)

Educate the next Generation. What I can do...

  • Look for someone younger than me with whom I could build a relationship with and become a mentor.
  • Encourage someone around me who may be struggling because he or she lacks further educational opportunities.
  • Offer to tutor or support those who have not been able to finish high school or their G.E.D.
  • Help those with addictions or abuse problems get connected to a recovery program.

Jesus did it...
"When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were utterly amazed. They said, 'Where did this man get all these things? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What great miracles are being done by his hands!'" Mark 6:2 (ISV)
