Selah's Story
Selah was the second HIV adoption for the Tweitmeyer family. By the time Kiel and Carolyn were able to get her, she was 10 years old and 32 lbs, in Stage 4 AIDS. Selah had days, at best, to live. The physicians in Ethiopia kept saying she was hopeless and would not survive a flight home to the U.S. Had Project HOPEFUL not moved to work to reduce the I601 waiver process from 3-9 months to less than 10 days, Selah would not have survived the wait. Ultimately, almost 1 year later Selah is thriving at home, with her family. Her viral load is undetectable; she has almost doubled in weight.
