Why Small Groups?
Why are small groups central to the mission of North County Christ the King Church?
There are a number of reasons why:
- We believe all members in the body of Christ are called to minister to one another. They are called to love, care for, encourage, teach and exhort each other. This is not possible during a Sunday morning service, but is possible if we gather together in groups of ten or so in homes around the community.
- We believe although real transformation begins at the preaching of the Word, it needs to be worked out in practical ways. That working out happens when we are able to talk and pray it through with others who are also working to be transformed into the likeness of Christ.
- We believe the first century church provided the model of meeting in homes and being devoted to one another and the Word.
- We believe pastoral care happens in small groups. The members of a small group know when someone is sick; they can rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. They are the first ones called if a tragedy happens or a need arises.
- We believe small groups are a great means for reaching out to your neighbors and unsaved people in your life.
- We believe your life is enriched by doing things in community with other believers. This enriching can happen in groups that study the Word together, serve together in NCCTK or the community, study discipleship-related topics together, or enjoy activities together.
