Stephen Ministry
Do you have a desire to provide support, comfort and encouragement to people going through tough times?
Do you wish you had more training and support to provide that kind of care?
If that describes you, then training to become a Stephen Minister may be right for you.
Our Stephen Ministers are NCCTK members trained to listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support to someone who is in crisis or facing tough times.
We're seeking like-minded people who want to join us in making a difference in people's lives by offering skilled, compassionate care.
New training sessions begin in January. Stephen Ministry training is open to those who attend either our Lynden or Kendall campuses.

What does it mean to be a Stephen Minister?
Who are Stephen Ministers?
Stephen Ministers are everyday people of all backgrounds, serving together on a supportive team. They are interviewed by Stephen Leaders, and approved by North County's Senior Leadership, before entering the training program.
Stephen Ministers commit to strict confidentiality, serve for 2 years, and attend small group sessions with other Stephen Ministers.
When you apply, you'll complete a background check and interview.
If the program is right for you, and you are accepted, there is a $50 fee to cover training materials.
What is the Training Schedule?
Stephen Ministers go through 20 training sessions (16 of them on Monday nights, two 2-part sessions on Saturdays). These prepare you to be an active listener, equip you with tools and practical training, and build team relationships.
view a copy of the training schedule that begins in January. If you let us know of schedule conflicts in advance, we may be able to arrange a make-up session; but this is at the discretion of the Leader Team.
If you need to miss more than a few sessions, you should probably wait until next year's training sessions.
What Do I Do Next?
First, pray about the opportunity to serve as a Stephen Minister. Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance and consider how God might be calling you to ministry.
